policy regarding religious, moral and ethical conflicts of interest

The organisation campaign’s on a number of issues affecting the LGBT community, with an over-arching aim to secure true equity for members of the LGBT community. This aim could therefore be considered incompatible with strong held religious beliefs concerning the validity, rights and equal treatment of members of the LGBT community. The LGBT Network, would like to confirm that all volunteers and members of staff are required to accept our aims and objectives and agree to support and work towards achieving the over-arching aim, which is:

“The LGBT Network is committed to enabling the fullest participation of all members of the community in influencing policy making, and achieving equity for LGBT citizens”

Although we support individuals’ right to choose which religion they practice and which beliefs they hold dear, the LGBT Network would not accept any person or persons into membership, employment or in the capacity of trustee or volunteer; who would refuse, object or otherwise work in any way contrary to our aims and objectives.

Although the LGBT Network will not ask you if you practice a particular religion, you will be asked if you have a religious, emotional or moral barrier which you feel may impede, prevent or otherwise distract you from working, as directed in achieving the aims and objectives of the organisation, we remind you that it is the individuals responsibility to make an honest declaration and update the Network should the situation change.
