Petition for Same Sex Marriage

petition is now closed with 1007 signatures.
The LGBT Network submitted a petition to the Scottish Parliament, calling on the Scottish Parliament to urge the Scottish Government to amend the Marriage (Scotland) Act 1977 to allow members of the same sex to register a civil marriage, or a religious one, if the faith group consents.

The Scottish Parliament has agreed to admit the petition for consideration
by thecommittee, Read more here.
Update – June 2009
The Scottish Parliament recalled the petition in June 2009 and agreed to
take the petition further. The committee are considering appointing a rapporteur to take
forward the petition.
