Chief District Judge Vaughn Walker overturned Proposition 8, the state
constitutional amendment which banned same-sex marriage.

SCOTTISH HATE CRIME LAW
Comes into law on 24th March 2010
After far too long a wait, today Scotland’s hate crime laws come into force.
The Offences (Aggrevated by Prejudice) (Scotland) Act, penned by Green MSP Patrick Harvie,
has now come into now law. That means that crimes motivated by homophobia, biphobia,
transphobia and hatred of disabled people will be properly recognised as a hate crime.
